About Me

Kristen Skedgell
It's hard to say, as one of six billion people, what makes me any different or more special or why anyone should bother to read my blog. I am (on no particular order) a writer, a social worker, a wife, mother, sister, niece, cousin, citizen, student, teacher, neighbor, client, survivor and friend. I'm happy to say I'm a "thriver" as well. A thriver is someone who has not only survived some trauma or tragedy but has learned to prosper in spite (or because) of it. From victim to survivor to thriver. That's why my blog is called "Thriving reality." I wrote a book called "Losing the Way: A Memoir of Spiritual Longing, Manipulation, Abuse and Escape" about my experience in a cult called The Way International. I have just completed a sequel which covers what happened after I left the cult and how I learned to thrive. More to come on that. Thank you for visiting.
